What is Free Will?
Free Will is a service that users of Articles Media can use to pass information along to others in case you go missing or die.
How does it work?
Choose what options you would like such as inactivity period and access type.
After a period of inactivity we will email/text you reminding you to sign in or confirm you are alive.
If all attempts to contact you fail after your period of inactivity we will allow your data to be accessed via the access code that you set.
After 5 years of no activity on your account all your data will be removed.

After a period of inactivity a confirmation email will be sent to verify your status, if no response is received from the email within another set period of inactivity your data will become available to your added recipients.
Why?
What business does Articles Media have offering a service like this?
We want to add features that bring value to the site for our users. This was an existing side project of our employee ArticlesJoey. We merged it into Articles Media to allow others to benefit from the features . Other websites provide similar features like Google and Apple to allow account beneficiaries in the event of death. As Articles Media expands with features like Messages and File Storage it becomes obvious that we should offer a similar service to allow users to pass that data on if they would like.
Is my data safe and secure?
No! Absolutely not.
Let us explain... The data that you provide us is stored in our database. That data can only be accessed by those that either have your private key or that you granted permission to.
So what is the problem?
That data is not encrypted yet. In the event an employee was to access/share the database or someone was able to access our database they would see your Free Will data in a human readable format. This issue is solved with encryption, which we have not implemented yet. So while we are still finishing the rest of the platform this has been set aside. Use the service to help provide feedback to us but do not use it to store any sensitive info like passwords, account info, or personal information.
